An estimated 1,500 people rallied against the Trump Administration at a Ventura, CA protest at Government Center last Saturday.
Protesters descended on the Ventura County Government Center to participate in the Ventura CA protest against the Trump Administration and his unpopular policies. It was the largest protest in the city since President Trump took office in January.
Early Arrivals
Protesters reportedly began arriving an hour or more before the Hands Off! protest sponsored by Indivisible, 50501 and others,. The rally was scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. By 9:30 well over 200 protesters lined the streets along Victoria Ave and Telephone Road in front of the Government Center.
Many in the crowd waved large posters and signs while chanting, “Hey, hey, ho, ho, Trump and Musk have got to go”, as well as “This is what America looks like”, “This is what democracy looks like” and “Hands Off!” One older protester held a sign that read “Not usually a sign guy but geeez!” Another read “Hands Off Immigrants” while another said “This Episode of Handmaid’s Tale Sucks.”
Traffic Backed Up From Ventura CA Protest
By 11 a.m. lines of protesters extended a quarter of a mile, bringing street traffic to a standstill at times while many motorists honked horns in encouragement.
Many protesters verbalized frustration, anger and fear for themselves and loved ones over recent immigration tactics. Participants complained of Trump and ICE apprehending perceived “enemies” of Trump. An hispanic gay man and his partner stood in opposition to Trump’s anti-DEI agenda. They shared fears of being identified and targeted for who they are.
Final crowd size estimates were between 1-2,000 protesters.
